The holding cages are also arranged in long rows and are made up of two compartments. Each cage holds 5 leverets on average, for the period of life between 25 and 50 days. Constructed entirely of metal, these cages have proven to be very noisy and excessively hot, thus necessitating a system of shelter from the sun in the summer months. In addition, the mode of access to the nest area often results in broken limbs as the leverets run too quickly through the small openings.
